After the Renault Kangoo Express was introduced in Argentina, five-seat passenger versions now appear, including the more adventurous Stepway finish level. The Latin American division of the French brand has again resorted to a Dacia model to give rise to the new Kangoo, based on the Dacia Dokker, which enriches the Renault line for Latin America that already has other models derived from the Romanian brand . The finishing levels available for the new Kangoo will be Life, Zen and Stepway. In its passenger version the new Kangoo has five seats, a generously sized trunk, an additional side window compared to the commercial versions, as well as rear window, richer equipment and specific trim. The most relevant equipment includes ABS brakes with EBD, front airbags, traction and stability controls, ISOFIX and assist in starting ramps, plus power steering, infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touch screen, integrated navigation, USB, Bluetooth, rear view camera, cruise control with limiter, multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, on board computer, aft sensors, electric windows, central locking with remote control, foglamps, alloy wheels,  etc. In the mechanical part, the engine includes in the gasoline line the 1.6 SCe that develops 115 horsepower and a maximum torque of 156 Nm, while in the diesel line comes the 1.5 dCi that produces 90 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. In both cases they are coupled to a five-speed manual transmission.

Renault innovates once more and launches in Brazil the Kwid, the first compact urban SUV. The vehicle stands out due to the higher ground height (180 mm) of the category and the entry (24 °) and exit (40 °) angles worthy of the SUV segment. In addition to the SUV features, the Kwid also has the largest internal space and the largest luggage compartment in the category (290 liters). “Renault brings again what the demanding customers want, bringing to the entry segment a vehicle with several characteristics of the SUV universe – the fastest growing in the country – as well as safety items and internal space not found in compact vehicles” , says Luiz Pedrucci, CEO of the brand.

new Renault vehicle is also best-in-class in fuel consumption among compact entry vehicles, recording 15.2 km / l with gasoline and 10.5 km / l when fueled with ethanol in mixed urban-road). The vehicle is also a new reference in safety, bringing, as standard, four airbags (two front and two side) – something unheard of in the entry segment – as well as several other safety items and structural reinforcements. Renault has innovation as a trademark of its history in the world and in Brazil. It was the first to launch, for example, a minivan – Scénic – in Brazil, as well as the innovative Twingo. The Clio was the first hatch to bring two standard front airbags, and it also brought the radio controls in the steering column. Oroch was the first medium-sized pickup on the market, among other innovations.

Unique design

The design follows the new visual identity of the brand, the unmistakable Renault DNA, and was developed in partnership between the studios of the Renault Design Network (Brazil, France and India). With an imposing profile and robust, the Kwid expresses modernity and gives the impression of being larger than its 3.68 m in length. The standard 14-inch wheels, full-bodied fenders enhance their SUV characteristics even more. Like all current models of the brand, the bold front grille translates to the ruggedness of the Kwid and expresses a unique personality, aligned with the brand’s new SUVs around the world, highlighting the prominent Renault logo. Larger internal space and larger trunk

The interior design of the Kwid is perfectly consistent with the exterior styling of the model, offering a modern interior that meets the needs of consumers. The high driving position ensures the driver an impression of confidence and safety in traffic. In addition, with higher cabin height the Kwid ensures even more comfort. With a modern look, the interior of the Kwid surprises by the internal space. With 2.42 m of wheelbase, the space for those who travel behind is quite comfortable. Who sits in the back seat, for example, has the most room for the knees of the segment. The same thing happens with the luggage compartment, which seats 290 liters and is the largest in the category. With folding bench reaches up to 1,100 liters. The connectivity translated into well-being on board was also not pushed aside. As an option to the Intense version, in the so-called Pack Connect, there is Media Nav 2.0, the intuitive 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia center integrated with the dashboard that offers GPS, Bluetooth, and a rear-facing camera.

Most economical car segment

The Kwid features the state-of-the-art 1.0 SCe (Smart Control Efficiency) engine with three cylinders, 12 valves, dual valve control (DOHC) and aluminum block. The model also debuts the five-speed manual transmission SG1, which is lighter and more efficient. The distribution chain in place of the belt provides a low maintenance cost, less than a $ 1.00 per day. At just 758 kilos, the Kwid offers the best power-to-weight ratio for agile handling with great responses. With ethanol in the tank, it yields 70 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and torque of 96 Nm at 4,250 rpm. With gasoline, there are 66 hp at 5,500 rpm and 92 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The Kwid is the car with the lowest segment fuel consumption in mixed use. In the city, it makes 14.9 km / l with gasoline and 10.3 km / l with ethanol. On the road, 15.6 km / l with gasoline and 10.8 km / l with ethanol. And in mixed use, the numbers are 15.2 km / l with gasoline and 10.5 km / l with ethanol.

Even though it is the most economical in the country, an important item gives extra help for the driver to achieve even more savings when running. In addition to the gear shift indicator (GSI) on the dashboard, standard on all versions, the Kwid features a driving style indicator, also on the instrument cluster below the speedometer, which by means of a bar with three colors (green, yellow and orange) shows whether the driver is having a higher efficiency or not. In the Intense version with the Pack Connect, there is also the Eco Scoring and Eco Coaching programs in the multimedia center Media NAV and evaluates by means of punctuation, giving suggestions for a more economical form of driving. The electric steering, besides facilitating the maneuvers, helps to reduce the consumption and the emissions, since it requires less the motor than the hydraulic systems. It is standard in the Zen and Intense versions.

Safety: single with four airbags as standard

Kwid uses the new global platform of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, CMF-A, which is modern and adaptable to meet the specificities of use and legislation of each country, produced at the Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais (PR). Since 1976, Renault Sport has powered the models of the brand. In the résumé are numerous racing cars and even a minivan of absurd 820 hp, the Espace F1. Three years ago, it was the turn of 75 engineers to work at Sandero RS, the first model of the sports division produced in Brazil. To make Sandero an authentic sports car, the RS division moved the soul of the car. The list of changes goes beyond the stickers scattered across the body. The suspension was lowered by 2.6 cm, the springs were stiffer, the exhaust was double output, the brake discs (on all four wheels) became larger and the steering system was recalibrated. Coupled to a six-speed transmission, the 2.0 16V engine received some changes to achieve a respectable 150 hp. The result is a thought-provoking car on a track and practical in urban use.

Although the third generation of the French urban has not yet solidified, the truth is that one can not deny the commitment of Renault to enliven the sales of the small Twingo. The latest changes come with the 2018 line, which is already available from the brand’s European dealers. The new Renault Twingo 2018 can now be configured and the company decided to make some adjustments to the offer. Firstly the Intens trim disappears, which was replaced by the Limited that already could be found in other Renault models. This version will take the place of access to the line. It is characterized by offering an attractive starting price with a very complete equipment. Following these adjustments, the Renault Twingo 2018 line will consist of three trim levels: Limited, Zen and GT. Only three endings, but well structured and differentiated between them.  Among the most relevant serial equipment offered by each of the finishes that can already be configured stand out:

Limited : rear spoiler, height-adjustable steering wheel, front electric windows, air conditioning, LED daytime running lights, multifunction steering wheel, R & GO radio, smartphone holder, tire pressure sensor, multiple airbags (front and side), ABS, ESP and ASR, emergency braking assistant, trip computer, foglamps

Zen (adds): exterior rear-view mirrors in body color and electric adjustment, speed governor and limiter

GT (adds): rain sensor, automatic lights, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors

The mechanical offer consists of three options. The access engine will continue to be the 1.0-liter SCe 70 hp engine. One step up is the 0.9 literTCe engine of 90 hp, while as top of the line and exclusively connected to the GT finish, is located the engine of 0.9 liters TC and 110 hp. All are coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The 0.9 TCe of 90 hp is the only one that can optionally be combined with an EDC automatic transmission.
